L&C Isla L’Explosion VSilk
Our Isla L'Explosion necklace is hand-knotted by fiber artist Cat Donohue from luminous VSilk (vegetal silk) handspun in Greece into continuous chain knots. The knot is formed by a series of loops in which each loop successively locks into the previous one, creating an interlocking chain. Climbers and sailors often store rope neatly in such a form to avoid tangles. To Lulu & Cat, the fact that each link is connected to the previous one symbolizes that that we are stronger together. Through relying on one another's love and support, anything becomes possible.
Once Cat's strong base of chain knots are in place, each piece is then lovingly embroidered by Lulu with a burst of freshwater pearls, semi-precious stones like labradorite, quartz, and moonstone, and a scattering of one-of-a-kind antique and vintage glass beads from the 1890's - 1960's.
More about the collaboration:
We're so excited to bring you Lulu & Cat - a new collaboration between artist Cat Donohue and Lulu Frost founder Lisa Salzer. Cat is a talented fiber artist who creates large-scale work, and for this unique collection of jewelry, she hand-weaves each piece, one knot at a time. Lisa and team then add classic Lulu Frost custom hardware and bespoke hand-beading in a variety of vintage and antique beads, freshwater pearls, and precious/semi-precious gemstones. Adorned with a custom charm tag, these Lulu & Cat pieces remind you to "find a smile".
Please allow 2-4 weeks for production, as each piece is custom-made as per your order. Thank you for your patience.
