THE LULU LIST

OUR WEEKLY OBSESSIONS

The Lulu List is where we share our favorite finds of the week.  From inspiring articles to street style looks to recipes we're craving, these are our latest obsessions.

{this week we love...}

This past Tuesday, eager Chanel fans lined the doors of the Grand Palais to be greeted by a larger-than-life Chanel Shopping Center.  The aisles were filled with Chanel-branded pasta, meats, cleaning products, home goods and ‘employees,’ mulling around in white button downs.  In usual Karl fashion, the sight did not end with the set design.  Just as grocery stores are today’s modern equalizers, models paraded down the runway representing a variety of women – the young, the hip and the fancy; even the butlers were in tow.  The best part?  The audience looted the store after the show!

The 2014 Oscars were nothing short of a spectacle, complete with pizza deliveries, heart-wrenching speeches and a selfie that literally shut down Twitter.  However, the real source of intrigue was the fashion.  AnOther Magazine and artist/play-doh aficionado, Eleanor Macnair, teamed up to re-created their favorite looks in malleable technicolor.

See more of their doughy creations, here.

The Armory Show, a leading international annual contemporary and modern art fair in New York, has returned to Piers 92 & 94 (exhibition ends Sunday, March 9th).  The fair pays homage to the original 1913 Armory Show exhibition that introduced America to modern art and celebrates new emerging talent alongside established artists.  The annual exhibition is the largest art fair in the United States, attracting collectors and artists from around the globe.

Australian rap genius Iggy Azalea and British pop star Charli XCX pay tribute to the 90’s classic movie Clueless in their newest music video, “Fancy.”  The video goes so far as to replicate almost every memorable costume, line and set (it's rumored that filming took place in the same school where Clueless was originally filmed).  Thanks Iggy, we will always embrace an excuse to quote Cher Horowitz.

Valentino designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli continue to blur the lines between ready-to-wear and artwork and their Fall 2014 RTW collection was no exception.  The show began with a slew of 1960's inspired mini dresses in bright bold colors and effortlessly transitioned into a collection of evening wear.  Butterflies, flowers and birds were recurring motifs this season, designed with such precision and detail they demanded a closer look.
