EVENTS: JEWELRY WORKSHOP WITH FREE ARTS NYC
May 29, 2018
Last week, we teamed up with Free Arts NYC to host a group of inspiring young people in our design studio for a hands-on jewelry workshop with designer Lisa Salzer-Wiles. The renowned organization, nearing its twentieth year in service, aims to empower underserved youth through arts and mentoring programs that develop their creativity, confidence, and skills to succeed in future endeavors.
With their mission in mind, Lisa and members of the Lulu Frost design team shared with the youth a brief overview of the types of career paths that are available within design and the arts, as well as the process of turning their ideas into completed physical works.
Afterwards, each mentee had a chance to sketch and explain their dream piece of jewelry (which would later be added to their growing portfolio) and then actually hand-make a Lulu Frost-inspired piece of jewelry to take home with them that day.
Later, we created a gallery of their artwork in our showroom and invited our network to come by for a viewing party. Guests sipped champagne and shopped the latest Lulu Frost collections – with a portion of proceeds from the evening going back to benefit Free Arts NYC.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience full of big ideas from bright young minds. We can’t wait to see what impact these aspiring artists have on the industry in the near future. Special thanks to Free Arts NYC for allowing us the pleasure of working with their wonderful organization.
