TRAVEL: SS15 TRAVELER SERIES #4
Sep 29, 2017
Inspired by the spirit of our SS15 Flora Fauna collection, the Traveler Series highlights cool travel spots as well as tips and fun facts brought to you by influencers, Lulu staff and other friends of the brand during their time on the road. Fourth up? Sandy, Lulu Frost’s E-commerce Director, curiously covers Cape Town. Read below for a Q&A with Sandy.
Why South Africa for your post-winter getaway?
My dear friend Lisa used to live there and goes back every year for a month or two. I've always wanted to go, so I finally took opportunity to join her.
What were some highlights of your trip?
I have to say the greatest thing about the trip was getting to meet and hang out with all of Lisa's lovely South African friends in Cape Town. They were so welcoming and made Cape Town feel like home. A few of them are musicians, so we were able to see some incredible live music on a few different occasions namely the bands Freshlyground and Beatenberg. I suggest you listen immediately...both bands will quickly become your summer soundtrack.
What was your favorite activity?
There were so many! Can I have 3? 1. Hiking Lion's Head (10 minutes from our Airbnb) 2. Dancing at the Congolese dance club late night (thanks Lyle!) 3. Safari with my lovely friends.
Favorite meal?
Toni's!!!! Mozambiquen Portuguese restaurant...our favorite items were the country's staple dish Chicken Piri Piri and the prawns which Moz is also famous for. I think we went three nights for dinner.
Jewelry of choice and why?
I wore the Cleo Statement Necklace and Cleo Studs incessantly. The color went along perfectly with the neutrals that I brought along for the trip and obviously the horn was the perfect accent for Africa.
Would you go back?
Without a doubt. There is so much more to explore. I barely scratched the surface!
Any recommendations?
1. Scenic drive on Chapman's Peak to Kalk Bay. Get the mussels at Olympia Cafe...biggest bowl I've ever eaten. Yum. 2. Beach day at Clifton Beach. 3. Try and see a show at this incredible ampitheater set within the botanical gardens against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain.
