WEDDINGS: LINDSAY & TOM
We like to celebrate life's special moments, whether weddings, birthdays, or other important events. In our "Celebrations" series we feature customers who choose Lulu Frost for meaningful occasions. This post spotlights Lindsay & Tom. Lindsay chose a matching necklace, earrings and bracelet from a previous Lulu Frost for J.Crew collection (sadly no longer available). Scroll down to read more about Lindsay's big day.
How did you meet?
"He was an Australian exchange student and I was a frazzled resident assistant in training at the University of Kentucky. We actually met at a friends house his first night in the state of Kentucky. I was the only girl in a group of my closest guy friends and they were swapping man stories while I quietly sat there. It really was not at all romantic, however he did chase me down one evening to surprise me (I had no idea he liked me at all) by saying that he thought I was amazing and that he really wanted to spend more time with me. That was pretty cute."
Where did you tie the knot?
"We got married at the Cedar Beach Inn in Belgium, Wisconsin just off of Lake Michigan. We chose this location because 40 years ago in the same month (August) my parents were married about a mile and a half down that same beach."
Ok, tell us about the dress?
"The dress was a Tara Keely that I found at the most amazing bridal salon in Cincinnati. The bouncy horsehair stripes at the bottom of each organza layer did it for me. I was always one of those girls that said I hate the typical strapless ball gown wedding dress, but I just felt like I was walking around wearing a cloud, the dress was so floaty and elegant! It was also a little kooky which is totally me."
Why Lulu Frost on your special day?
"Why not? I love all of the Lulu Frost angular designs and the beautiful shapes incorporated in the jewelry. The layering of completely different shapes and colors in one piece seems to bring them together in the most inexplicable way. I saw the set I was wearing on the J.Crew website and just knew that would be my wedding jewelry/something blue! I wore a string of very old pearls for the ceremony, but as soon as I had the chance to add the necklace to the earrings and bracelet, I did! I didn't want to be a plain Jane bride and Lulu Frost was the perfect fashion forward, yet classy set of accessories to accomplish that goal."
What was your favorite part of the wedding?
"Of course my favorite part was being with all of my family and friends and being able to put my Australian and Wisconsin family and friends under the same roof, but if I had to choose just one moment, it would be when a 'Bella Note' flash mob began during the speeches! I have an absurdly musical family. My mother was an Opera singer, her youngest brother is a composer, her closest sister in age sings in choirs and that whole side of the family is just musically inclined, so as my Uncle Mark stood up to make a speech I just KNEW there would be some singing. What I didn't expect was for random members of my mom's side of the family to stand up around the room and join in! It was a really great moment and we all laughed as it went on."
